Belconnen Arts Centre has a seasonal Artists in Residence program and is offering assistance to local artists, writers, performers, new media collaborators and other creative professionals looking to use studio, performance and exhibition space for development and presentation of new work. As part of this program, the Centre can offer significant discounts on the hire of space, mentoring and professional development, plus support through profiling and marketing.
The aim of the Artist in Residence program is to encourage practising individual artists, writers and performers or small groups to develop a work or series of works within the Arts Centre’s available studios and workshops and to then have the opportunity to present or exhibit that work. During the residence period, artists may also invite the public to engage with them and/or offer workshops and demonstrations.
The IVAIS program supports a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry with strong participation by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Funding provides professional opportunities for over 8,000 artists and approximately 300 arts workers, most living in remote Indigenous communities.
Applications open April 3, 2017
